Q : |
What is a home warranty? |
|
A : |
A home warranty is a
service contract, normally for one year, which helps
protect homeowners against the cost of unexpected
covered repairs or replacement on their major
systems and appliances that break down due to normal
wear and tear*. Coverage is for systems and
appliances in good working order at the start of the
contract (i.e. preexisting conditions are not
covered). |
| |
|
|
Q : |
Is
coverage through AHS available everywhere? |
|
A : |
Almost. American Home
Shield home warranties are currently available in 49
states, including the District of Columbia. |

|
|
Q : |
What is Basic Coverage? |
|
A : |
Generally, basic
coverage** for a home under 5,000 sq ft, regardless
of age* includes the home's heating, plumbing,
electrical system, water heater and major
appliances, such as range/oven/cooktop, dishwasher,
garbage disposal, etc. Home warranties are available
for homes that are over 5,000 sq ft for an
additional fee. Please submit a Contact Us form or
call 1-800-735-4663 for complete details and
information. |

|
Q : |
I
suppose I can't request service for the first 6
months? |
|
A : |
Yes you can. There are
no waiting periods and no exclusionary periods
except one. That being if anything in the home were
to break down due to rust or corrosion during the
first 30 days of the contract, American Home Shield
would not cover it. The reason for this is that rust
and corrosion form over a very long period of time. |

|
|
Q : |
How long does it take to begin protection? |
|
A : |
Protection for the Home
Buyer begins at the closing date of your home sale
upon receipt of funds and continues for one year for
the buyer of your home. To order call
1-800-735-4663. |

www.ahsservice.com, and request service. We will

extremely cold, water is causing an excessive amount
of secondary damage that cannot be turned off, etc.
we will expedite the call to get you quicker
service. |

|
|
Q : |
Do
I have to pay the technician anything when he comes
to my home? |
